She kissed studying goodbye!

Today is Kirby's last day to EVER take a test! She will be doing her internship in the fall, but as far as studying, doing projects, going to lectures and classes, she is TOTALLY done. Unless, that is, she decideds to go back to get her master's...ha! She is going to have her doctorate in being the best mother and wife EVER!!! She is (was) the most amazing student. She wasn't always in class, but she did always know what she had to get done. She can miss class and still get B's where I had to go to every class and study a ton to get a B or better. She is so stinkin' smart. And she is unbelievable at what she does. Once she got into this Sports Management field she has taken off. It is so fun to watch her blow her classmates out on marketing projects. She is so good. She knows what her clients need and, if she wanted, she could probably take my graphics job from me. She is such a quick learner and has even done a magazine ad for me here and there when I have been overwhelmed and way to busy. Go Team Apel! Gotta love oneness. My wife is amazing and I just wanted to take a day to let all of you know and to honor her. I love you, Princess!

Oh, the controversial issue...........

So...I believe this has been the Hendrick's most popular topic on their blog yet! (If you have absolutely NO idea what I am speaking of...please visit www.allthingshendrick.blogspot.com/ and then the rest of this post will make sense.) It definitely was a matter of debate, again, tonight at HG...there were about 5 girls versus me....I felt very alone, but continue to stand by this fashion favorite.

It is very funny how this has all come about...a week ago, I was just telling a group of girls how leggings were coming back in and I was so going to sport them! Well...I didn't get the most enthusiastic response, to say the least....I got a few odd looks and that was about it. So, imagine my delight when I heard that Heather's latest post was on this wonderful re-discovered fashion...that will soon be better than it was in the 80's!

To show my support, I have come up with some Do's & Don'ts on the art of "Legging Wearing" b/c I know that leggings are a tricky trend...but they can be worn well! Don't get me wrong...I have seen some AWFUL, even offensive display of leggings, but if done right--they can look so cute!(Oh, and by the way, yes, even I with my big pregnant belly will be sporting these beauties in the fall!)The above are perfect examples of how we can sport these leggings fashionably, yet tastefully...with the exception of Britney, of course!

Anyways, here are a few simple rules I have come up with after doing much research:

Do’s
  • Leggings come in all different lengths, make sure you pick a pair that stop at the thinnest part of your calf/ankle to improve the visual effect.
  • Cover that hiney…no matter how cute it is…we don’t need/nor really want to see it!!
Don’ts

  • Don’t wear the wrong footwear! Most fashion experts are saying to wear these with cowboy boots…but I say, “NO WAY!” I think it would be way too difficult to pull these off without looking like you’re trying too hard! Stick to flats, flip-flops, and ballet pumps.
  • Don’t get too creative-keep it simple with solid colored leggings… (a little trim on the bottom of detailed lace is okay) but when you see the striped or polka-dot ones that you just can’t resist-then think of Britney and how ridiculous she looked!!!

I know that some people are STILL not going to like the leggings-look, but they are WAY better than the Skinny Jeans that are coming in….yuck! I would wear leggings over skinny jeans anyday! Have you SEEN those?

Doctor's Orders

Alright, a dear doctor friend of ours (who will remain nameless) suggested that I post my belly in additon to Kirby's. Most guys gain 'sympathy' weight during their wife's pregnancy. I am curious myself as to how much this will happen to me. I'm not one to turn down food and now that my beloved is eating a little bit every couple hours, I have noticed my meal count per day average going up. I know you're asking yourselves--"do you think you could possibly ruin such a stunning figure?" Well, that what were here to find out. Thanks, Rusty. --Charlie

Our first peek!

Oh my stars! This is what finally made it more real...I am so giddy! I feel like for some time I almost just wondered if my body was playing tricks on me and doubted if I was really going to be a Mommy!! But I am!! Thank you, Lord! It was so neat to watch our little angel wiggle around...it would not stay still--just like their Daddy! My favorite picture was the bottom one--the baby looks like a little teddybear--it's arms and legs stick straight out! (the head is on the right side) It really did look so much more real on the screen...I wish we had a video...but this little one will be here sooner than we know it!-Kirby

We're having a BABY!!! Primarily, I stress the excitement. Secondly, I stress the singularity. We're having one precious little baby. Our first sonogram was today. I really didn't think we would be able to make out much this first time. I was wrong. You could see the baby's little arms and little legs and little belly and ginormous head. The little heart beating almost brought me to tears and was the most exciting, most emotional thing. We didn't think little feti (??) moved around so much, but our's does. That was so incredible and made it so real. -Charlie

10 Weeks Down, 30 To Go

This is the first documentation of many to come over the next 7 months of my rapidly changing body! My belly at 10 weeks--BUT before you comment--this is all me-NO baby yet, so be careful what you say...at this point our little pumpkin is 2-1/2-3 cms and my uterus is the size of a grapefruit!(normally the size of a lime-pre-pregnancy) My waist is starting to thicken a bit, but nothing is too noticebley visible yet to anyone but me and Char. On Friday morning we have our first sonogram, so we will post the first shot of the baby by the weekend! I am thinking this is the first time that it will finally hit me that the Lord is growing a precious life inside of me--I still cannot even fathom that there is something growing INSIDE of ME!!
